Prioritise your Mental Health

I know there’s a lot of talk about Mental Health and removing the stigma surrounding it. Mental Health issues can come in all shapes and sizes just like people. You might not have depression but you’re feeling really down and aren’t able to pull yourself out of it. You might not have anxiety but a certain situation (or situations) specifically are making you very anxious and uncomfortable.

Remembering that your mental health is as important as any other health as it can all be connected. I know for myself if I am feeling super down or a situation is making me very anxious and uncomfortable I will do 1 of 2 things..

1. Eat really bad foods (comfort foods you feel me?) or,

2. Feel so sick in the stomach I don’t want to eat at all and this can last for days..

When I get down mentally I like to try to use the gym as an outlet, I work on myself physically and release those endorphins and try to pull myself out of it. Maybe this isn’t for you, just find something that you really enjoy; reading, cooking, walking, Friends (both the TV show and the people), Music etc etc.. and immerse yourself in it to try and put whatever is making you feel not quite right out of your head.

Of course if you need to seek a professional, there are great online mental health platforms and then there are also businesses like Beyond Blue who have great staff to help you out.

Just remember you are not alone.. You can call 1300 224 636 to talk to someone any time.
